"Tom Cruise's Audition for Me" Segment One              
             
 

In 1980, I was hired by Glen Ridge High School to direct their Spring Musical, "Guys and Dolls". The first person to audition for me, was a young man on crutches.  He had sprained an ankle during wrestling season and couldn't run track so he came out for the musical.  His name was Tom Cruise Mapother III,  now known as

Tom Cruise.

I was told the young man that was going to audition for me was what they called in 1980, a "jock".
